Hingham police still working to reunite man with his money

HINGHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police say that a man who left an envelope full of money on a bakery counter still has not tried to retrieve it.

Hingham police said the man bought items at White's Bakery inside the Derby Street Shoppes just after 3 p.m. on Feb. 21. The man had taken out a folded envelope from his pocket, and left it on the display counter after a conversation with the clerk behind the counter.

Just a minute later, a different clerk saw the envelope, picked it up, and found that it was filled with cash. She turned it over to her manager, and the bakery employees called police after no one came forward to claim the money.

Bakery employees and police are still hoping to return the money to the man. He is described as a white man around 50 years old, with thick dark hair, wearing dark pants, a dark jacket and tan boots or shoes.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to have him contact Hingham police officer Eric Chessler at (781) 749-1212.
