Hernandez associate's deal with prosecutors is falling apart

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- One co-defendant cooperating with authorities investigating Odin Lloyd's murder could be indicted on more charges.

Carlos Ortiz originally told police Aaron Hernandez and Ernest Wallace exited the car with Lloyd in a North Attleborough industrial area on the night of June 17. During Wallace's bail hearing Thursday, prosecutors said Ortiz is now claiming only Hernandez exited the car with Lloyd. Ortiz says he stayed in the car.

Ortiz is the only one of the three defendants whose case has stayed in district court, where more minor crimes are heard. However, there has already been speculation about whether he is a good witness against Hernandez and Wallace considering his lengthy criminal record.

FOX Undercover has learned that Ortiz's deal with prosecutors has fallen apart and he will likely be indicted on more serious charges. Ortiz is due back in district court Friday for a status hearing. The district attorney and Ortiz's defense attorney did not comment, citing a gag order.
