Herald: Assaults on MBTA workers up 85 percent this year

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – The MBTA says there has been a dramatic increase in attacks on MBTA employees.

Transit police told the Boston Herald that many of the incidents involve fare disputes between bus drivers and passengers. So far this year, there have been 37 assaults or verbal threats on MBTA employees. That's up from 20 at this time last year.

Twenty-one of those incidents have been physical assaults.

The MBTA plans to install more video cameras and train employees how to de-escalate disputes.
