(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - With Halloween behind us now, we're jumping right into the holidays here at FOX 25, because if you start now, and get all of your materials, you too could have an incredible gingerbread house by Christmas!
Maria Cavaleri, executive pastry chef at Empire Asian Restaurant & Lounge, Beth Veneto, otherwise known as Ginger Betty of Ginger Betty's Bakery in Quincy, and Jaime Davis, executive pastry chef at No.9 Park, recently joined the FOX 25 Morning News.
They will all be taking part in the annual Gingerbread House Competition this weekend at the 26th annual Boston Christmas Festival.
Recipe for Jaime Davis (No. 9 Park) Gingerbread Recipe:
1lb brown sugar
8 oz corn syrup
8 oz molasses
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp nutmeg
2 TBL cinnamon
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
4-6 oz water, boiling
3lbs 9 oz bread flour
Cream together butter, sugar, corn syrup, molasses and spices
Mix baking soda with boiling water and let cool.
Alternate flour and water mix into creamed mix
Roll thin and cut
Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 mins
