Head of the Charles 2017: Road closures, security and maps

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — More than 10,000 rowers will paddle down the Charles River in Cambridge this weekend and even more will pack along the banks to cheer them on.

The annual Head of the Charles Regatta is expected to bring out record crowds because of the nice weather forecasted for the weekend. Rain dampened last year's crowds and the previous year was too cold for a big turnout.

This year, Massachusetts State Police say they will be ready for the crowds and have a plan to get everyone in and out of Cambridge safely.
