He was my baby: Grieving mom of murdered delivery driver demands answers

LYNN, Mass. — The family of a delivery driver shot and killed in Lynn Monday says it is overcome with grief and want to know why their son and brother was gunned down.

Sina Zangiband was delivering food for Atha’s Pizza in Lynn Monday when an unknown gunman shot him multiple times.

He was days away from his 25th birthday, and his family says he was doing everything within his power to give himself a good life.

“How he can take somebody’s life? He doesn’t think about the moms. He doesn’t know how I raised him hard. I raised him hard. He was my baby,” Zangiband’s mother said.

Investigators spoke to a person of interest in the case, 21-year-old Brian Brito, who was arrested after allegedly robbing and raping a convenience store clerk several hours after the killing in North Andover.

According to court paperwork, Brito allegedly told the rape victim, “Thank you for making this easy. I had to kill someone today. That made it hard.”

Zangiband’s sister, Soma, said he was training to be a pilot in Florida, but got homesick and came back spend time with his family in Salem.

“He was sweet. He was a lovable, loveable brother. I miss him already so much. I’m going to miss him calling me every day. Everybody loved my brother,” Soma said.

Brito is facing charges of aggravated rape, armed robbery while masked and kidnapping in relation to the North Andover incident. He is expected to be arraigned on those charges next week.

Brito is still considered a person of interest in Zangiband’s killing but has not been charged.
