• Haverhill police seek suspect in multiple armed robberies


    HAVERHILL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Haverhill police are looking for the public's help in finding a New Hampshire man wanted for several armed robberies.

    Matthew Clougherty, 19, is considered armed and dangerous, the Eagle Tribune reported. His last known address is in Newmarket, N.H., but police say he frequents the Acre section of Haverhill. He weighs 160 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.

    Police have obtained arrest warrants for the 19-year-old for multiple armed robberies in Haverhill, including one that happened on Wednesday.

    Around 1:39 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to American Grocery on Main Street in Haverhill for a report of an armed robbery. The store clerk reported that a man went into the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes, then pulled out a knife and demanded money. The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and got into a car with an accomplice, the Tribune reported.

    Clougherty was identified after the Tribune published his photo.
