HAVERHILL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com/AP) – Police have arrested a Haverhill man they say spent 26 minutes stalking a mother and her 7-year-old daughter around a Haverhill supermarket and took a cell phone picture under the girl's skirt.
Police arrested 38-year-old Stephen Hager on Wednesday. He was arraigned Thursday on a charge of attempted indecent assault and battery on a person under 14 and held on $10,000 bail. A judge also ordered Hager to stay away from kids and to wear a GPS monitoring device.
Police say Hager followed the mother and daughter around the Market Basket store on Monday afternoon. He was arrested after police distributed surveillance photos of him.
The woman told investigators she asked Hager if he had touched her daughter, and he responded by saying he was sorry and walking away.
The girl's mother told store management, who informed police.
Hager is due back in court Sept. 6.
