Harvard's post-election discussion with Trump, Clinton campaigns got heated

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Harvard University hosted a post-election discussion forum Thursday night and things got a bit heated at times.

Representatives from the Trump and Clinton campaigns joined a panel discussion to talk about what happened in the general election.

The topics covered everything from camping strategies, polling, the media and President-elect Donald Trump's transition.

The roundtable was moderated by Dan Balz of The Washington Post, Katherine Miller of Buzzfeed, and Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC.

After about an hour and 45 minutes, the tone of the forum got a little heated when the tone of the campaign came up.

You can hear a 10-minute excerpt of the heated discussion in the player above. It starts with a question about how Trump's appointment of former Breitbart executive Steve Bannon should be interpreted.

That led in to a discussion of the tone of each candidate's campaign.

“Oh my god, you called him a sexist, a racist, a misogynist and a xenophobe daily and it blew back on you,” Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said at one point.

The segment led to the following exchange:

“[Trump’s] message was 'she’s being indicted, I’m going to put her in jail, I’m going to lock her up'…”

“No. Look at our rallies. Boo-hoo.”

“Kellyanne, look at your rallies.”

“If he’s going to be my president then [Trump] needs to show me that white supremacy is not acceptable.”
