Hanover man had 230 explosives hidden in Norwell shed

NORWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Hanover man is being held without bail after police say he was stockpiling explosives.

Officials said Jonathan Allen had 230 explosives in a shed and set off two of them along Route 53 in Hanover.

According to The Boston Globe, officers checked in on Allen after receiving a tip. When they went to his home, he told police he had a homemade explosive inside and 50 more in a shed behind his parent's house in Norwell – 50 turned out to be 230.
    
The bomb squad disassembled 20 of the devices and sent them to a lab for testing.
    
Police said it is still unclear why Allen had so many explosives.
