Guilty verdict for alleged mob captain and FBI informant

A jury delivered a guilty verdict to reputed mob captain and FBI informant Mark Rossetti guilty Thursday after just a few hours deliberation over charges that he orchestrated a drug robbery.

The guilty verdict was a much different outcome than last month's trial, which ended with a hung jury and this month's retrial.

"We are pleased that the jury has found both defendants guilty of ordering a breaking and entering to steal heroin and money from a home in Roslindale," Attorney General Martha Coakley, whose office prosecuted this case, said in a statement.

In neither trial did jurors hear of Rossetti's alleged mob ties or of his work for the FBI as a once-secret informant. Rossetti was caught on a State Police wiretap talking with his FBI handler.

Rossetti remains locked up and will be sentenced next week. He is also facing additional charges in Essex County for allegedly running an organized crime ring.
