CANTON, Mass. — A driver is “very lucky” after a guard rail went through his car, pinning him inside, Mass. State Police told FOX25.

The guardrail could have sliced through his legs, but fortunately did not. He was airlifted to the hospital, but is expected to survive.

The accident shut down all traffic Friday afternoon on I-93 SB in Canton near I-24. SkyFox was over the scene during the afternoon commute as traffic was backed up for miles.

Two lanes have since reopened, but expect major delays if traveling in that area.
