Guardrail damaged after two-car crash in Norwood

NORWOOD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Two cars were involved in a crash on I-95 southbound in Norwood Sunday morning.

The crash happened at around 8 a.m. when a 2002 Ford Explorer crashed through the guardrail and drove down an embankment on the side of the highway. The driver, a 44-year-old woman from Milton, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Additionally, her juvenile passenger was taken to a local hospital, also with non-life threatening injuries.

The second car involved in the crash was a 2013 Kia. The driver of that car, a 22-year-old woman from Hyde Park, was not injured.

Although no travel lanes were closed at the time of the crash, workers were scheduled to repair the guardrail later on Sunday, which is expected to cause some lane closures.

The names of the drivers and passenger were not released. State police officers are investigating the crash.
