Group backs longer school day

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A new coalition of several teachers unions, including the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Boston Teachers Union, is calling for longer school days in poor Massachusetts districts.

According to The Time To Succeed coalition, students in classrooms with longer days perform better in school, WBUR reports.

The group also says longer days are especially needed in the state's 175 high-poverty urban middle schools.
