Gov. Patrick begins Canada trade mission

BOSTON (AP) - Gov. Deval Patrick is planning a busy itinerary for the first day of his trade mission to Canada.

Patrick begins Tuesday talking about the importance of Canadian tourism to Massachusetts in Toronto.

Patrick is then planning to discuss what he calls the state's role as a global destination for the wind industry at the Canadian Wind Energy Association's Annual Conference.

Patrick's schedule also includes a meeting with the Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne and a sit-down with local leaders from Brookfield Energy, a global asset manager headquartered in Massachusetts.

Patrick also plans to highlight efforts to expand investment in Massachusetts' innovation economy.

Patrick ends the day discussing the economic and cultural ties between Massachusetts and Canada at the Massachusetts Global Alumni Network Reception in Toronto.

Canada is the state's largest export partner.
