BOSTON (AP)- One of the candidates in the state's special U.S. Senate election is taking a break from the campaign trail to jump into another race - the Boston Marathon.
Cohasset businessman and former Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez is planning to compete in the 26-mile footrace on April 15.
A campaign spokesman said Gomez has run five other marathons, but this is his first Boston race.
Gomez is competing against fellow Republicans Michael Sullivan and Daniel Winslow in the Republican primary on April 30.
Two Democratic candidates - Congressman Edward Markey and Stephen Lynch - are competing in their party's primary also April 30.
The special election in June 25.
