GOP Senate hopeful Gomez to launch campaign tour

BOSTON (AP) - Cohasset businessman Gabriel Gomez is formally launching his U.S. Senate campaign more than two weeks after releasing a video saying he was getting into the race.

The Republican and former Navy SEAL plans to tour the state Thursday.

Gomez has so far refused to hold public events or speak to reporters.

The first event will be at an American Legion Hall in Quincy at 8:15 a.m., followed by a 10:45 a.m. stop at Broday's Diner in Shewsbury and a 2:45 p.m. visit to an American Legion Hall in West Springfield.

Gomez and fellow Republican Daniel Winslow both say they've collected enough signatures to get on the April 30 primary ballot. GOP Supporters of former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan also say they have enough signatures.

Edward Markey and Stephen Lynch are running on the Democratic side.
