GM: Bruins Bergeron played Game 6 with small hole in lung

(MyFoxBoston.com) – Boston Bruins Assistant Captain Patrice Bergeron played in Monday's night Stanley Cup finals with a small hole in his lung, GM Peter Chiarelli said Wednesday.

Bergeron was injured during the second period of Saturday night's loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 5. He was taken to a Chicago hospital, but was released and flew home with the team Sunday morning.

During a press conference Sunday, Bruins coach Claude Julien was not comment on the injury only to say it was a "body" injury.

Bergeron was seen walking to his car without crutches; however, he appeared stiff.

The Blackhawks went on the defeat the Bruins in the third period of Game 6 Monday night for the Stanley Cup title.

Chiarelli also confirmed that defenseman Andrew Ference will not be re-signed.
