Gisele Bundchen visits young Malden girl battling cancer

MALDEN, Mass. (MyoxBoston.com) – The biggest surprise of 15-year-old Karina Moreira's life came knocking on her door Thursday, with a visit from none other than Gisele Bundchen herself.

"I was just doing my makeup and Gisele came in and I saw her and I just said, 'Oh my God,' I was so shocked," Moreira said.

Bundchen stopped by Moreira's home in Malden to lend some support to the ninth grader. Moreira has been battling bone cancer since she was only 12. She was in remission until recently, when her family learned the cancer is back, now in her lungs and behind her knees. Moreira is now a patient of Dana Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.

Thursday was the second time Moreira and Bundchen met. The first time was two years ago at a Girl's Weekend hosted by the Dana Farber Institute.

Moreira says one of the things that helps her get through the tough times is her blog, where she talks about her love for all things fashion.

"Fashion, makeup, and sometimes I'll put DIY videos, an outfit that I wore," she said.

During Gisele's visit, the two even shot a special post for the site.

"She did makeup on me, I did makeup on her. We were just interacting with each other, talking about makeup, talking about lots of other stuff," Moreira said.

The supermodel posted about the meeting on her Instagram and Facebook pages, saying, "It was a pleasure to see you again Chic by Karina. You are a warrior, an inspiration of positivity and courage, I will be praying for you. Sending you love and light always."

"She's a role model. I've always liked her, and when I saw her I just felt like we had a connection and we were alike. I was just so surprised and it was a great Christmas present," Moreira said.
