"They told us to get out of the house 'cause they wanted to steal stuff," Abby Dean told FOX News.
Investigators say Abby's 17-year-old babysitter orchestrated a false home invasion last week, along with her 16-year-old boyfriend and another male suspect. They say the babysitter made up a story about two armed black men breaking into the home.
"The bad guys stole by kitty bank, they stole my iPod. They also stole my Xbox and my Wii," said Abby.
The babysitter told investigators one of the suspects looked like the next door neighbor. Neighbor Cody Oaks said police handcuffed and questioned him for several hours because he fit the description, but Abby knew better and she told police. She told investigators the suspects were white, not black. That's when the babysitter's story started to crumble and she confessed.
Abby's mother, Jennifer Dean, says she is proud of her young daughter.
"Literally in 30 seconds she changed everything that had been going on for 5 to 6 hours," said Jennifer.
Cody said he hopes the babysitter and her accomplices learn a lesson.
"It's kinda sad 'cause I don't think she realizes the dangerous position she put me in," said Oaks.
All of the stolen belongings were returned.
"They got it back because of me being the superhero," said Abby.
