Gillette Stadium will soon be a smoke-free environment

FOXBOROUGH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Gillette Stadium officials are expected to announce next week that their venue is going smoke-free.

The designation is expected to officially begin during the week of July 9.

As of August 2011, a total of 15 NFL stadiums prohibited smoking inside of the stadium.

Smoking was previously allowed on designated stadium ramps.
