George Harrison remembered on 70th birthday

Happy Birthday 70th, George Harrison!

The lead guitarist of the Beatles died of lung and brain cancer in 2001, but his legacy as a solo artist and member of the ‘fab four' continues to live on.

Harrison met a young Paul McCartney on a school bus in Liverpool. Later, McCarthy would convince John Lennon to allow Harrison, who was only 15-years-old at the time, to become a member of his group called the Quarrymen.

As lead guitarist for the Beatles, Harrison developed the skill of playing each note with feeling and purpose. His first recorded composition with the group was ‘Don't Bother Me' on With the Beatles, and he continued to write some of the band's most beloved and iconic songs from ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps,' ‘Here Comes the Sun' and ‘Something.'

In 1970, just a year after the Beatles split; Harrison released a three-album set, All Things Must Pass. A leader of the Hare Krishna movement, Harrison contributed to the mysticism movement by which he lived by.
