Friends, family remember teen found murdered, decapitated in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Mass. — Freinds and family gathered Friday for the funeral of a Lawrence teen found murdered in the Merrimack River.

Lee Manuel Viloria-Paulino went missing in mid-November and his decapitated body was found a few weeks later partially submerged in the Merrimack River.

Police say Matthew Borges, 15, is responsible for murdering and decapitating Paulino. Borges allegedly told police he and Paulino went to smoke marijuana near the river that evening, but that he left him there and went straight home.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Borges told a friend that he killed Paulino and cut his head off.

Borges pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
