Friend of missing man in Boston discusses ongoing search

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A friend of missing 23-year-old Jonathan Dailey discussed the discovery of a body in the Charles River on Tuesday with FOX 25.

The friend tells FOX 25 that the entire experience has been "gut-wrenching" and that Tuesday's news only increases those feelings.

"We currently do not have any information as to the identity of the body found in the Charles River. We will release another statement as soon as we get full confirmation either way from the Boston Police," they said. "We are not letting this news in any way slow the search that is going on to find Jonathan. We are still asking people to continue searching, regardless. This is not a time for people to sit on their hands awaiting news."

The body pulled from the Charles River near Boston University has not been identified.

Jonathan Dailey left his apartment in Boston's Allston-Brighton neighborhood last Tuesday at about 9:30 p.m. and has not been seen since. He was reported missing when he failed to show up for work at a Cambridge clothing store on Friday.

Efforts to find a missing Boston graduate student are being stepped up nearly a week after his disappearance.

Friends and relatives of Jonathan Dailey, 23, have started a Facebook page and have spent time plastering the city with fliers.

There has been no activity on his cellphone, bank account or email accounts since he left Tuesday.

Dailey is a North Carolina native who is attending Boston Architectural College. Police say he is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair.
