Foxborough detective may have won $8M in Mass. lottery

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Foxborough police detective may have won $8 million in the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Several sources told The Sun Chronicle that Brian Gallagher bought a "$10,000 A Week For Life" winning scratch ticket at The Country Store on North Street.

The newspaper reports that an employee at the store confirmed a man bought the $20 scratch ticket last Friday night, but did not disclose the winner's name.

Gallagher, a former wrestling coach at Foxborough High School, was not at work on Monday and Tuesday. Police Chief Edward O'Leary told the Sun Chronicle Gallagher chose to take those days off.

O'Leary said he could not confirm the win.

The Massachusetts State Lottery makes the name and hometown of scratch ticket jackpot winners public as soon as the winner claims the prize.
