FOX25 Investigates workplace gun violence

BRAINTREE, Mass. — Mass shootings have more companies willing to spend money to prepare their employees to confront intruders.

Employees at F-1 Racing in Braintree spotted a man behaving strangely at the business last December. General manager Karen Quast showed FOX25 here her staff first saw the man.

“He’s alone and he’s walking around, and he’s walking down this hallway. A few years ago, that would’ve been a completely unnoticed individual, that conversation would’ve never taken place,” Quast said.

Police eventually got the man to leave without incident, but Quast says her team was already thinking about their next move.

Two days earlier, they had taken active shooter training from former Mass State Police trooper Todd McGhee.

“People want to know how they can protect themselves. People don’t want to be caught vulnerable,” McGhee told FOX25.

McGhee says recent mass shootings have business booming. FOX25 Investigates found McGhee’s company and other private firms are offering specialized training, teaching people when and how to run and hide and confront an attacker.

“If their safe place has been breached, then they should be prepared and determined to commit some level of violence to protect their lives,” McGhee said.
