(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The first of what could be many convicted criminals may be set free as early as Wednesday as a result of evidence mishandled at a state drug lab.

According to the Cape Cod Times, four convicted drug dealers could receive a get-out-of-jail-free card in the wake of Annie Dookhan's arraignment last week.

Dookhan is charged with faking drug test results, forging paperwork, and mixing samples at the lab. The charges date back over several years involving more than 30,000 criminal cases.

The lab was shut down in late August.

Dookhan could face more than 20 years in prison if convicted.
