Former Romney aide Beth Lindstrom will not run for office

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Former Romney aide Beth Lindstrom tells Fox 25 Political Reporter Sharman Sacchetti she will not be running for office, a move that potentially could clear the way for another hopeful, former State Representative Karyn Polito.

From 2003 to 2006, Lindstrom served as Secretary of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation under former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Her name had been among the field of Republicans possibly considering a run for Lieutenant Governor.

Meanwhile former State Representative and former state Treasurer candidate Karyn Polito of Shrewsbury tells Fox25 she is using this time to think about her "political future."

So far, former state budget chief and former Harvard Pilgrim CEO Charlie Baker and small business owner Mark Fisher are the only declared Republicans in the race for governor. It's unclear whether or not the Baker campaign will name a running mate.

"Charlie is focused on talking with voters across Massachusetts about his plans to create jobs, close the education gap and foster safer, stronger communities and has no announcement to make at this time," Press Secretary Tim Buckley said.
