NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A former North Andover resident was one of 12 people killed in the Navy Yard shooting Monday.
Martin "Marty" Bodrog was born on Oct. 15, 1958. He lived in Woodbury, N.J., Martinsville, Ind., and North Andover, Mass. before graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1981. Bodrog was a 22-year veteran of the Navy, serving as a Surface Warfare Officer.
Bodrog was responsible for overseeing the design and procurement of naval ships upon his retirement and taught Sunday school at his church.
According to his obituary, the Navy veteran loved the Boston Bruins and had a reputation for donning shorts and a Bruins jersey even in winter.
Bodrog is survived by his wife, Melanie, and three daughters, 23-year-old Isabel, 17-year-old Sophie, and 16-year-old Rita.
