Former head of Chelsea Housing Authority will be arraigned Thursday

(MyFoxBoston.com) – The former head of the Chelsea Housing Authority will be arraigned Thursday.

Michael McLaughlin is facing charges for unlawfully soliciting campaign contributions to support former Lt. Gov. Tim Murray and other political allies.

Prosecutors say the 67-year-old told a Housing Authority worker to collect contributions for Murray from other employees. McLaughlin is also accused of asking employees to attend fundraisers he organized for Murray.

In July, the former housing head was sentenced to three years in prison for concealing his true salary.

Murray resigned as lieutenant governor in May. He previously acknowledged that McLaughlin was a political supporter, but said he never asked him to raise campaign funds.
