Foreman disciplined after letting Lawrence DPW workers clean private lot

LAWRENCE, Mass. — A group of Lawrence DPW workers cleaned a privately-owned lot and the foreman is now being disciplined, said the mayor.

Mayor Dan Rivera said on his Facebook page that the workers were sent out to clean two different city-owned lots on Oak Street following many requests.

Along with cleaning those two lots, the workers then cleaned a private lot nearby. A City Official partially owns the lot, said the mayor.

The foreman knew the lot was privately owned, but allowed them to do the work anyway, said Rivera.

"Given his experience and connection to the city, he knows that city workers are not to do work on private property. He will be disciplined," said Rivera.

The owner of the lot will also be contacted to make some type of restitution for services, even though the owner never consented to workers cleaning the lot.
