Five taken to hospital after head-on collision in Methuen

METHUEN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A head-on collision of two cars in Methuen early Sunday afternoon sent five people to the hospital.

The crash happened at the intersection of Rte. 110 and Griffin Brook Drive just after noon. There were four people in one car, three of which were taken to Lawrence General Hospital. One person had to be airlifted to a hospital in Boston, according to Methuen Police. The other car contained a single driver, who was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

The injuries of the victims were unknown, but are believed to be serious due to the impact of the crash, Methuen Police said.

The Massachusetts State Police's accident reconstruction unit was investigating the accident at the scene. No further information about the crash or the victims was available.
