Fitchburg dad charged with drunk driving, child endangerment

FITCHBURG, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – His son was called a hero for helping to rescue his father from a crash scene, but prosecutors say the Fitchburg dad was driving drunk.

Eugenio Garcia was charged with drunk driving and child endangerment Monday.
    
Police say he crashed his car through a guard rail and into the Nashua River early Thursday morning. His 8-year-old son climbed out, scaled an embankment and walked a mile to his house to get help.
    
Garcia was released on probation and will have to remain drug and alcohol-free until his next court date, Aug. 20.
