(MyFoxBoston.com) – (MyFoxBoston.com) – A vacant building caught fire around 4 a.m. Monday on Somerset Place in Brockton.
Firefighters say the blaze was on the second and third floors when they got to the scene. Firefighters said the building had been abandoned for some time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Investigators are asking if anyone saw the fire in its earliest stages or has other information to call Brockton fire officials, police or the statewide arson hotline at 1-800-682-9229.
Another fire broke out overnight at an elderly apartment building on Calnan Circle in Weymouth.
It happened at a two-story building. Everyone did make it out OK. They've been taken to a community center to stay warm.
There has been a string of unsolved arsons across the South Shore and southeast part of Massachusetts. Fire investigators have not said if either of the new fires is connected.
