Firefighters battling apartment building fire in Chelsea

CHELSEA, Mass. — A fire broke out at a large apartment building in Chelsea, forcing dozens of residents to evacuate their homes.

Fire officials are still not sure what caused the fire but were able to put it out in under an hour.

No residents had to be rescued and no injuries were reported. However, a few firefighters suffered some exhaustion issues fighting the flames in the heat.

Boston 25 News Reporter Jacqui Heinrich was live at the scene and talked to some residents who feared losing their belongings.

Many of the people living in the building are Spanish speaking and expressed concerns that their paperwork and money are still inside and they don't know when they'll be allowed back in or what would be left.

At least a dozen people will be going to a church for the night as they are unable to get back into their homes after the fire destroyed most of 4th floor and some of the third.
