Fire officials investigate arson spree in Southbridge

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The State Fire Marshal is assisting officials in Southbridge as they investigate five intentionally-set fires.

Investigators say the fires were set overnight on Cohasse, Oakridge, and Everett streets. Three homes were damaged.

Two small outdoor fires were also reported in the same neighborhood.

"We want the public to be aware of these fires and to protect themselves by making sure the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes are working," said Fire Chief Mark DiFronzo. "Neighbors should keep an eye on each other's property and report any suspicious activity."

The Arson Watch Program provides rewards of up to $5,000 for information that helps to solve an arson crime.

Anyone with information is asked to call Southbridge police at 508-764-5420 or the Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229.
