Fire destroys two buildings in Waltham

WALTHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Flames engulfed two homes on Charles Street in Waltham Wednesday.

The fire broke out at about 3 a.m. in the area of 51 Charles Street.

Officials said the fire began at a building that was under construction and spread to another home. The residents of the second home were sleeping inside, but were able to make it out safely. The roof of that building collapsed during the fire.

Nearby homes were evacuated as firefighters battled the blaze. Three other buildings were damaged.

One firefighter was injured, but is expected to be okay.

There is no word on a cause or how many people were displaced.
