SAUGUS, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A three-alarm fire destroyed a home early Wednesday morning in Saugus.
Flames ripped through a three-family residence at 11 Taylor St. around 2:30 a.m., according to fire officials, who said the blaze started on the second floor.
One resident got up and tried to turn a light on. When it didn't come on, he heard a crackling noise and checked the attic. That's when he saw smoke, officials said.
No injuries were reported. All the residents who live at the home got out OK, but a cat is missing.
It's not known whether the smoke detectors were working.
The damage to the home is estimated to be worth about $450,000.
Officials said an electrical problem may have caused the fire, but they are still investigating.
