• Fire destroys 19th century barn, 3 other buildings in Fairhaven


    FAIRHAVEN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A four-alarm fire Wednesday morning at a Fairhaven landscaping business destroyed a 19th century barn and three other buildings, but 20 employees escaped unharmed.

    The fire at G. Bourne Knowles and Co. was reported at about 7:30 a.m. SKYFOX was over the scene.

    Fire Chief Timothy Francis says when firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were shooting out the second-floor windows of a large barn near the front of the property.

    The fire was under control within about two hours with help from departments in surrounding towns.

    The cause remains under investigation. The state Fire Marshal's office is assisting.
