Worcester teen dies after drowning in Webster Lake

WEBSTER, Mass. — An 18-year-old Worcester teen died after drowning in Webster Lake, authorities say.

Christensen G. Agnant, a recent graduate of South High Community School in Worcester, was identified as the victim in the drowning, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Multiple fire departments responded to the reported drowning in Webster on Saturday night.

Police say the man had gone under the water near the Lakeside boat ramp after a high school graduation party, and several attempts were made to rescue the teen.

An off-duty police officer dove into the water to help the search, and a dive team eventually took over and found the victim.

He was brought to shore and taken to Harrington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Webster Fire Department and Auburn Fire Department's Dive Team responded to the situation around 7:40 p.m.

The Auburn Fire Rescue's Twitter posted about the incident Saturday night, and the Southbridge Fire Department posted a picture from the scene.

No foul play is suspected in the incident, and police are still investigating the cause of the death.
