Fire at Taunton apartment building displaces dozens of residents

TAUNTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Between 50 and 60 people may have been displaced after a fire in Taunton.

The fire sent dozens of people out into the cold Sunday night. The blaze started around 9 p.m. in the attic of the apartment building, which has three floors, eight units on each floor.

A viewer sent FOX 25 incredible video of the fire, which showed flames shooting from the Chateau Condos at 103 Hart St.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile, American Red Cross volunteers have provided emergency temporary shelter, a hotel stay, for 18 residents displaced by the fire. Volunteers have provided emergency funds for food and clothing to 30 residents thus far, and have opened a warming center at the Silver City Galleria. There, they will further assess needs of residents.
