‘Felony Lane Gang' suspected in series of car break-ins

NORTH READING, Mass. — Police in North Reading are urging residents to be vigilant when parking in public after a series of car break-ins believed to be committed by members of a national ring of thieves.

Members of the group call themselves the Felony Lane Gang, and police say they’re targeting surrounding communities and want people who live in the area to be aware.

Police say the gang members break into cars to steal money, debit cards or check books. Police said they then go to banks using the farthest lane in a drive through to avoid being caught.

That’s how the group received the name, Felony Lane Gang.

Earlier this month, police in Canton believe members of the gang stole tires off cars at an MBTA parking lot.

Sharon and Stoughton have also reported thefts.

Police said there are as many as 800 gang members nationwide.

Residents are asked to not leave valuables in vehicles and to remember to lock doors and windows when parked.
