BOSTON — A federal judge has dismissed the extortion case against two Boston City Hall officials.
Two members of Boston Mayor Marty Walsh's Administration - Kenneth Brissette and Timothy Sullivan - are accused of pressuring organizers of the Boston Calling music festival into hiring union workers.
Their attorneys denied the allegations against them.
Jury selection was supposed to begin Monday, but on Wednesday, a judge canceled the trial date to decide if the case should move forward or be dismissed.
On Thursday, the judge decided to dismiss the case against Walsh's aides altogether.
Walsh's Office sent Boston 25 News the following statement:
"I appreciate this being brought to resolution. We made significant progress over the last four years addressing the housing crisis, creating jobs, building safer neighborhoods and improving Boston's schools. I look forward to continuing our focus on moving the city forward and working to expand opportunities for Boston residents, every day."
With the case dismissed, Walsh's Office said Brissette and Sullivan to return to City Hall.
