Fatal multi-vehicle collision in Brockton overturns dump truck into home

BROCKTON, Mass. — Brockton Police are investigating an accident involving multiple vehicles that killed one person, left several people injured and caused a 10-wheel dump truck to collide with a house.

The crash, which was initially reported as a hit and run, occurred at around 2:20 p.m. near 179 Quincy Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say that at least three vehicles were involved in the crash, and Audi A6, an SUV and the 10-wheel dump truck that struck the front of Patty Rose's home.

"What a close call. When I opened my daughter's window I could reach out and touch the truck, that's how close (it was). God bless the guy that was driving, I tell you," said Patty Rose

Two of the victims were taken to the nearby Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. At least one person's injuries are believed to be serious.

The driver of the SUV was killed in the crash after the Audi A6 hit it from behind. The victim has been identified as a Department of Mental Health employee, according to William Carpenter, mayor of Brockton.

The Plymouth DA tells Boston 25 News reporter Drew Karedes that the woman driving the Audi A6 is to blame for the accident.

As of right now, no charges have been filed against the woman driving the Audi, but investigators say she walked away from the scene and was brought back by police.

Authorities are still working to piece together the incident and how exactly it happened.

Police tell us that woman is currently being investigated and they're trying to determine if she was under the influence of any substances during the time of the accident.

Officials say that this Audi had been on the radar of police in another town earlier in the day.
