Family says dog had miraculous recover after being hit by car

BOXFORD, Mass. — Against the odds 12-year-old Chloe has survived after being hit by a car in November.

The golden retriever had a hip that broke in two places, most of her ribs were broken and she was bleeding internally, but none of that diminished the hopes her owners had.

After the crash on Nov. 6 Chloe was taken to several veterinary and after surgery she had to keep on fighting against blood clots, arrhythmia, mini strokes and pneumonia.

"I can’t say enough about the folks at Mass Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn.  They were incredible - and truly kept our Chloe alive,” Chloe’s owner John McMahon told FOX25.

When she was released on Nov. 22, Chloe had not movement in her back legs, but as time has passed her recovery has gone well.

Chloe may not walk again, but with feeling in her back legs she can now go to the bathroom on her own.

A friend started a gofundme to help the McMahons cover the $18,000 in medical bills.
