Family mourns 24-year-old delivery driver shot multiple times in Lynn

SALEM, Mass. — The family of a 24-year-old shot and killed in Lynn while working as a delivery driver said they can’t believe what happened.

Sina Zangiband was delivering food for Atha’s Pizza in Lynn Monday when an unknown gunman shot him multiple times.

Zangiband was just days away from turning 25, and his family says he was doing everything within his power to do a good life, but someone took that from him.

“How he can take somebody’s life? He doesn’t think about the moms. He doesn’t know how I raised him hard. I raised him hard. He was my baby,” Zangiband’s mother said.

Investigators have spoken to a person of interest in the case, 21-year-old Brian Brito, who was arrested after allegedly robbing and raping a convenience store clerk several hours after the murder in North Andover.

According to court paperwork, Brito allegedly told the rape victim “thank you for making this easy. I had to kill someone today that made it hard.”

Zangiband’s sister, Soma, said he was training to be a pilot in Florida, but got homesick and came back spend time with his family in Salem.

“He was sweet. He was a lovable, loveable brother. I miss him already so much. I’m going to miss him calling me every day. Everybody loved my brother,” Soma said.

Police put out a BOLO for a 2004 Audi with New Hampshire license plates and shortly thereafter pulled over Brito in a vehicle matching that description on Route 1 in Peabody. After that traffic stop, he was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, operating a vehicle with a suspended license and two civil motor vehicle infractions.

He also is facing charges of aggravated rape, armed robbery while masked and kidnapping in relation to the North Andover incident. He is expected to be arraigned on those charges next week.

At this point, Brito is still being considered a person of interest in Zangiband’s murder.
