Expressway shooting connected to deadly Dot incident, sources say

BOSTON — A father and son were shot while riding motorcycles down Interstate 93 Sunday afternoon, according to police, and sources tell Boston 25 News the suspect may be connected to a deadly shooting in Dorchester a short time later.

The highway shooting happened in the southbound lanes around 5:15 p.m. near the Freeport Street exit. The expressway was shut down for several hours while police investigated and removed the victims and their motorcycles.

Police were initially looking for a red or orange Jeep Renegade that fled the scene, but on Sunday morning officials told Boston 25 News the vehicle had been recovered.

While police were searching for the Jeep Sunday night, a person was shot and killed at 11 Santuit St. in Dorchester.

Lance Holloman, 30, was identified by sources as a person of interest in both shootings. He previously lived at the Santuit Street address and a source tells Boston 25 News the victim may have been a passenger inside the Jeep wanted in connection to the highway shooting.

Mugshot taken of Lance Holloman, 30, on Feb. 15, 2017 after his arrest in Salem, NH for assaulting a security guard and shoplifting.

Holloman's mug shot (above) dates back to when he was arrested on Feb. 15 in Salem, New Hampshire for allegedly assaulting security guards at a mall after he and another woman were caught shoplifting at Lord and Taylor.

Tracking down Holloman

Early Monday morning, a Franklin police officer said he was waved down by a man wearing a pair of white jeans on his head and identifying himself as "Terronce." Police say he was screaming for help on an I-495 on-ramp.

"The man told me that people were trying to kill him. He stated that he had been kidnapped and tied up," said the officer who found him.

Nearby, police found a car crashed into a pole near the 495 overpass, and Holloman told police he escaped from that car.

"He began acting extremely strange. He stated that they were all around and they were going to kill him," the officer said.

That strange behavior continued at Franklin PD where police say "Terronce" refused to sit still for a mug shot. After a call from Boston Police, Franklin police learned the man they had in custody was Lance Holloman using a false name.

Franklin officers said that Boston PD and State Police were looking for Holloman in connection to multiple shootings.

Boston Police picked up Holloman in Franklin and then transported him to the Dorchester District Court on active warrants.

Victims of the Expressway shooting

The father shot Sunday evening on I-93 South, a 54-year old from Raynham, was taken to Tufts Medical Center with serious injuries, according to police. His son, a 34-year-old East Taunton man, was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he is in critical condition.

Police say the father is expected to survive, but the son's injuries are life-threatening. Neither victim has been identified by name.

Police are asking anyone who was around the Expressway and may have seen something to call them.

What happened in Dorchester

Boston police have released limited information about a shooting that occurred Sunday night on Santuit Street in Dorchester other than confirming a woman was killed.

A source tells Boston 25 News that woman may have been a passenger in the Jeep involved in the shooting on I-93 earlier in the evening.

Neighbors tell Boston 25 News that Hollman and has family had lived in the home where the shooting occurred for generations.

“I know this family for many, many years, they are a great family. You couldn't ask for better neighbors. It's unfortunate it's happening to them,” neighbor Mike Foley said.

Detectives remained on the scene throughout the day Monday and into the night.

Hollman appears in court Monday

After picking up Hollam in Franklin, Boston Police booked him on unrelated warrant charges from an arrested on May 31. He faces eight counts including several for gun-related offenses.

At the hearing Monday, Holloman refused to show his face.

Hollman has not been charged for either shooting Sunday night.

Court records indicate Holloman's criminal file includes multiple gun charges and a case of animal abuse.
