Ex-Mass. soccer coach faces exploitation charge

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A former girls' soccer coach at a western Massachusetts Roman Catholic high school has been charged with asking an underage girl to pose nude for him over the Internet.

Michael Dupont of Chicopee was arrested Thursday on a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Federal authorities say they started investigating the 37-year-old Dupont in December when a Vermont woman called police in that state to say her 14-year-old daughter had exchanged inappropriate emails with a grown man.

Investigators say Dupont received sexually explicit photos from at least five girls over the Internet.

Dupont is the former soccer coach at Holyoke Catholic High School. The Springfield Diocese says his contract ended in November and he is no longer affiliated with the school.

Dupont's lawyer had no comment.
