Ex-Barre tax collector accused of bilking $300K in public funds indicted

BARRE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A former tax collector from Barre was indicted Thursday amid allegations that she stole $300,000 in public funds.

A Worcester County Grand Jury handed up an indictment against Marcia Langelier, 61, of Barre, on charges of larceny over $250 by a common scheme, fraud/embezzlement by a city, town or county officer; and making false entries in corporate books.

Investigators accuse Langelier of stealing the funds between January 1, 2005 and July 31, 2011 while working as tax collector.

Langelier will be arraigned in Worcester Superior Court Oct. 31.
