Enjoy the January thaw, the end is in sight

From FOX 25 Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz:

The mild spell continues for New England into the weekend.

A storm that brought flooding rains to the deep south is weakening as it moves toward us.

We'll see clouds increase Friday, but the rain may not arrive until dinner time. That rain will move through overnight Friday and will not be anywhere near as heavy.

Clouds and lingering showers early Saturday will give way to some breaks of sunshine. Mild air will be at its peak Sunday and Monday with highs in the 50s.

The next cold front moves through Monday with limited moisture for showers. That front will be close by Tuesday as a wave of low pressure ripples along it. That will bring some more rain Tuesday, but as colder air seeps in, some spots may see some mixing, particularly the farther west and north you go from the coast.

Current model projections have that wave pushing through New England inland, so this will be predominantly rain through Wednesday. The cold air will arrive behind that front Thursday as it finally pushes out to sea. Cold wind and flurries come with the cold air.

Enjoy the January thaw because the end is in sight.
